Women's Uinta Backpacking Trip

Service Description

There is something different about carrying everything you need on your back, walking deep into the mountains, and realizing you are more capable than you thought. This four-day women’s backpacking trip to Upper Red Castle Lake is designed for beginners, newer backpackers, and women who want to build confidence in the outdoors without having to figure everything out alone. Before the trip, you will be invited to practical, in-person classes covering backpacking gear, pack fitting, backcountry cooking, bathroom systems, food storage, wildlife awareness, and Leave No Trace practices. The goal is to take away some of the biggest unknowns before we ever hit the trail. Then we take those skills into the mountains. The planned route is approximately 23.5 miles round trip with about 2,063 feet of elevation gain over four days and three nights. Along the way, you will practice setting up camp, cooking, managing gear, caring for yourself on the trail, handling changing conditions, and making good decisions in a real backcountry environment. The trip includes all meals and snacks while in the field, professional guide leadership, wilderness medical support, group cooking equipment, fuel, water-treatment supplies, first-aid and emergency equipment, food-storage systems, bathroom supplies, route planning, and hands-on instruction throughout the trip. Additional guide support will be added as needed based on group size. Participants provide their own backpacking gear, clothing, sleeping system, shelter, and personal items. A detailed packing list will be provided. We also have a limited amount of gear available to borrow with a refundable deposit. If cost is a barrier, limited scholarships may be available. No previous backpacking experience is required, but participants should be prepared to hike, carry their own pack, sleep outside, learn, and be part of a team. This trip is about building confidence in the outdoors, growing friendships through shared experience, and stepping away from everyday distractions to connect with the beauty of creation.
