Service Description
Overview This course is designed for current Wilderness First Responders and WEMT/WEMS providers to renew their certification. It focuses on refining skills, updating protocols, and building confidence through hands-on scenarios. Skill Level: Current WFR or equivalent Minimum Age: 16 Duration: 24 hours (3 days) Format Fast-paced, in-person course. Students are expected to arrive prepared, having reviewed prior material. Some pre-course work may be required depending on certification level. What You’ll Review Patient assessment and critical decision-making CPR, AED, and basic life support Environmental and backcountry medicine Trauma and musculoskeletal injuries Wilderness protocols and risk management Hands-On Skills Scenario-based patient care Wound care, splinting, and packaging Patient movement and evacuation Managing life threats in remote settings Requirements Must hold a current (or within grace period) WFR, WEMT, WEMS, or equivalent certification that meets in-person training standards. Evaluation & Certification Pass/Fail with 100% attendance required Based on scenarios, skills, and written exam Recertify WFR + BLS CPR certification Valid for 3 years Continuing Education This course qualifies for continuing education hours, including: First Responder: 70 hours EMT: 70 hours Advanced EMT / Paramedic: 70 hours HoursApproved by Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) Recognized by the American Camp Association Recognition and Approvals This course meets or is recognized by several professional standards and organizations, including: American Camp Association U.S. Coast Guard requirements for First Aid and CPR training Wilderness Medical Society (FAWM credit eligible) Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative Canadian Association of Wilderness Medicine To reserve your seat in our wilderness medicine training, a $100 deposit is required at the time of booking. This initial payment secures your spot on the roster and allows us to begin preparing your course materials and logistics. Please be aware that the remaining balance must be paid in full at least 14 days before the course start date.

Cancellation Policy
Turn Left Adventure & Education Cancellation Policy We understand that plans change, and we strive to be fair and flexible while honoring the time, preparation, and costs that go into each trip. Please review the following cancellation policy carefully. Participant Cancellations More than 30 days before trip start: Full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. 15–30 days before trip start: 50% refund OR full credit toward a future trip within 12 months. 14 days or less: No refund or credit (unless we can fill your spot from the waitlist). Note: If you must cancel due to illness, injury, or family emergency, we will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis. Documentation may be required. No-Shows Participants who do not show up without notice will forfeit the full cost of the trip. Trip Cancellations by Turn Left Adventure & Education If we cancel due to weather, safety concerns, insufficient enrollment, or other unforeseen circumstances, participants will be offered: A full refund OR Full credit toward another trip or training within 12 months. We do our best to notify participants at least 7 days in advance for non-emergency cancellations. Weather-related decisions may be made closer to the event for safety.
